A la Carte Wedding FAQ’s

When and where do I pick up my flowers?

Your A La Carte Wedding Flowers will be available to pickup in our farm stand at Spring Wind Farm located at 95 Holmes Mills Road, Cream Ridge, New Jersey. Based on your request, we will coordinate a date and time together. Local delivery within 15 miles can be arranged for a fee.

How will my flowers stay fresh?

Bouquets are packed in vases with fresh, cold water. Smaller out-of-water items (boutonnieres, corsages and flower crowns) are given to you in moisture-sealing packaging that will then be stored in our farm stand refrigerator, which should then be placed in your refrigerator until they’re ready to be worn.

Your DIY buckets will be full of the freshest flowers cut from our fields on the week of your event. They will be bunched by variety and color. The most important part about keeping cut flowers alive and fresh is cleanliness and cool temperatures. You want clean clippers, clean vessels, fresh clean water, and a dark/cool location to keep them until your event (an AC room without direct sunlight, a garage, a basement, etc.)

You will want to do the following once you have your DIY Flower buckets:

1. Take all the bunches out of the buckets.

2. Remove any paper sleeves, cut the elastics off, and trim the bottom of your stems with clean scissors/clippers.

3. Place fresh cut stems into clean fresh water. Change and refill water daily.

4. Make sure any vessels (buckets, ball jars, vases, etc) you are using for design have been cleaned.

5. Keep designs in a cool / dark room until the event.

Do I have to bring anything back afterward?

We will gladly take anything back that you do not plan to reuse, however there is no need to return anything.

Do you have off-season/winter availability?

No. Generally, our flower season runs April-October to reflect the seasonality of the flowers on our farm. If you have an event taking place just outside of this window, you are welcome to reach out to inquire about availability. December - March fresh flowers will not be available.

Can you tell me exactly what flowers will be available?

We grow endless of types of flowers all year long and their blooming time will vary year to year based on the climate and the unpredictable nature of nature. We can not promise specific flowers, but we DO promise sustainable, women-grown local cut flowers that are the absolute beautiful and will be in peak bloom the week of your event.

May I request specific types of flowers?

Due to the volatility of Mother Nature, we do not accept requests for specific varieties of flowers, but we will make every effort to include blooms (or similar blooms) that you love or are sentimental to you. Some flowers are just not available during certain times of the year. For example, one common request is Peonies, which are loved by most but have a super short growing season and are only available for approximately 4 weeks in Late Spring.

We can, however, omit certain varieties of flowers that you dislike. If, for instance, you don’t want eucalyptus, there won’t be a stem of eucalyptus within a mile of your wedding day!

I don’t know anything about flowers. Can you help me?

Yes!!! This is what we’re here for. In fact, the less you know the better, because our best designs happen when we have full freedom to create within your color palette.

How many stems are in the DIY Flower Buckets? How many buckets should I order?

As is stated in the description, our buckets typically will fill 8-10, 16 oz ball jars depending on how you make your designs. We suggest ordering one extra bucket beyond your tables count because you will always find more places you wish you had flowers at your event (bar top, seating chart, entry way etc).

There is no way for us to know exactly how many stems will be in the buckets, as they are done by cost of flower, not by the stem count and different crops cost different amounts. Also we do not know what kinds of vessels people are using to arrange in, so visualizing with the ball jars is our best way to help you picture the amount of flowers you will be receiving. When ordering for larger events we will gladly help you calculate the number of buckets you need!

Can I request a specific color palette?

Please choose from bright, pastels, or neutrals. If there are certain colors you do or do not want please add in other notes in the form that pops up after you select a product before check out. We will do our best to accommodate your request and will be in touch via email to confirm.

Why are your floral options so limited?

When you choose our floral services, you are choosing to work with our farm as an alternative to using a traditional florist. We are a 20 acre flower farm that has to maintain a level of excellence for all of our sales outlets with a limited staff of 3-5 people. Therefore our floral offerings are limited to keep it simple, affordable and streamlined.

If you need more services beyond what we offer, our offerings may not be for you. We suggest working with a traditional florist.

Why am I limited to buying the Centerpieces in a 5-pack?

Because of the addition of various work steps to create this service (a separate harvest plan in addition to our wholesale harvest plan, sourcing and arranging ball jars, receiving the orders, scheduling pick up, packing for travel etc) it is necessary to ensure that there is enough of the order to warrant this process.
